About

Teresa McWalters is a native-San Franciscan and practicing architect. Her work is inspired by a deep interest in people and the virtues of physical space as the domain of human encounter. Grounded in the belief that big ideas are born from an inquiry of small things, Teresa’s work stems from her interest in people, commitment to the iterative process, and sensitivity to history and context. These are tools she uses to uncover the depth and richness within the everyday and the unseen.

Teresa earned her Masters of Architecture from Harvard University, Graduate School of Design in 2012, and Bachelors in Art History & Theory from Stanford University in 2008. She has served on architectural review juries and is a part-time lecturer at Stanford's d.School. She was a 2013 Fulbright Fellow in Mumbai, India, exploring the socio-spatial affects of low-rise / high-density dwelling and the inherently human attribute of place-making. This experience has deeply shaped her interest in the form and function of dwelling in the urban realm.
